Ella Fitzgerald would have been 100 years old in April of 2017. In the sixties, she kept up with the songs of the day.
Here she is in 1968, at age 51, singing “Hey Jude” on the TV show the Hollywood Palace.
She performed and recorded an album in 1968 at the Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
The Grammy Awards are celebrating her centennial with an exhibit at their Los Angeles museum. Here is some information about that.
Our own Bay Area Cabaret, a nonprofit organization that produces cabaret-style performances in the Venetian Room in the Fairmont Hotel, is presenting, “Ella Fitzgerald : A Centennial Celebration,” on Sunday, September 24 at 7 pm. You can find information about this celebration and the 2017-2018 season at www.bayareacabaret.org.
