Baseball and summer go together. Remember Seals Stadium? Built in 1931, it was home to the San Francisco Giants (formerly the New York Giants) when they arrived here in 1958. The stadium was demolished in 1959 and the site was home to a department store, then car dealerships, and in the 1990s, a shopping center was built including a Safeway and an Office Depot.
Techie guru Todd Lappin says, “While playing around with Google Earth’s new historical views feature earlier this week, I spent some time looking at the former Seals Stadium, one of my favorite San Francisco Buildings That No Longer Exist.” Todd searched for, and found, the exact current location of Home Plate. It’s in Aisle 6 of the Office Depot. Take a look!
