Golden State Warriors History

How about those Golden State Warriors? Back in December, their winning 24 games-in-a-row record came to an end, but they are still the reigning champions. They even got to visit President Obama at the White House.

The Golden State Warriors have a storied history. Remember the names Attles and Thurmond?

In 1966, Al Attles was number 16 and is known as “Mr. Warrior” for good reason. Here is a profile of Attles:

Attles’ work with the Warriors is the longest uninterrupted streak of one person working for one team in NBA history.

Nate Thurmond was number 42. Here is his profile:

After retiring from the NBA, he returned to San Francisco. Younger folks know him as the owner of Big Nate’s BBQ restaurant. He sold the restaurant in 2011. He still lives in San Francisco. The Warriors organization gave him the title of, “Warriors Legend and Ambassador.”

Best wishes,
