Are your favorite TV shows back for a new season yet? The TV networks used to premiere all of their new and returning shows in September. Here is a promo for ABC’s 1966-67 new season:
Judy Carne was the “sock it to me” girl from “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.” In 1966, she starred in the second season of a romantic comedy called, “Love on a Rooftop.” It was set in San Francisco and was about a young woman from a wealthy family who has disappointed her father by marrying a struggling young architect.
The quality of this clip is not good but you can get the idea about the show from the opening credits:
She was born Joyce Audrey Botterill in Northampton on April 27, 1939, taking the name Judy Carne. She was a talented comedian as well as a singer and dancer. In addition to “Laugh-In,” she starred in the musical “Boyfriend” on Broadway and appeared on variety and game shows in the 1960s. Here she is on the “Hollywood Palace” show in 1969:
Sadly, Judy Carne died on September 3, in England, at age 76. Rest in Peace.
