Magical Tour in San Francisco

Looking for one more adventure before September? Remember the Beatles “Magical Mystery Tour” – the song and the movie? The Beatles performed for the last time for a large audience on a stage at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on August 29, 1966. By November of 1967, the Fab Four had produced an “LP” (for the younger folk that means a Long Play 33 1/3 rpm vinyl record) with the song the “Magical Mystery Tour,” and a movie of the same name.

Here is an audio clip of the Beatles version along with some fun images:

The movie did not get very positive reviews. But you can still see it on PBS with a digital update and a remixed soundtrack, along with some additional interviews with Paul and Ringo. Here is a link: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/episodes/magical-mystery-tour-revisited/watch-the-full-film/1483/

And Sir Paul McCartney is performing at Candlestick again tomorrow. The show will commemorate the Beatles performance 48 years ago, and is an opportunity for fans to say good-bye to the stadium that will be demolished in 2015.

If you cannot make that show, and if you would like a more up-close-and-personal return to the 1960s ala the “Magical Mystery Tour,” then San Francisco’s Magic Bus is for you. Check out:
