San Francisco is known for being the birthplace of some awesome music. But not many people have heard this song.
The Wave Organ is a unique art piece that creates sound with the help of the tides of San Francisco Bay. The installation belongs to San Francisco’s Exploratorium: The Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception, founded in 1969 and located at the Palace of Fine Arts complex. The goal of the museum has always been to create “active explorers.” There are many programs for children and educators. Lesser known may be their evening science events for adults.
The first Thursday of the month, the over-18-years-old crowd can attend “After Dark.” The theme for the November 3 event, planned for 6 pm to 10 pm, is “The Senses.” Activities include testing your taste receptors to inhibit “your sweet tooth with a sugar-blocking tea.” There is a cash bar for some adult beverages.
