For many years, Santa Claus left his reindeer to rest at the North Pole while he arrived in The City, well before the big day, to talk to all of the good boys and girls. So how did he get here? Now, big and little kids can see Santa in San Francisco when he lights the tree in Union Square this week. www.unionsquareshop.com/TreeLightingUnionSquare.html. “This year’s beautiful 80-foot fir tree will be covered in 21,000 energy-efficient twinkling LED lights,” courtesy of Macy’s department store, a Union Square neighbor from across the street.
To add to your holiday spirit, you can rent a pair of ice skates and try out your moves at the Union Square Ice Rink, open daily now through January 16, 2012. www.unionsquareshop.com/UnionSquareIceRink.html
