Still Rockin’

If you are longing for the days you could see your musical heroes in concert, your wishes can come true. Many of our favorite 1960s groups and individual performers are still touring and performing. And in some cases, performing in venues that will bring you up-close-and-personal to the performers, unlike the larger old San Francisco venues such as the Fillmore or Avalon Ballroom.

For example, if you want to see and hear the Jefferson Starship, with Paul Kantner and David Freiburg of the original Jefferson Airplane band (that dissolved in 1972), they are performing in a smaller venue in San Francisco called the Rrazz Room. And no, that is not a typo.

The Starship is kicking off their 41st year at the Rrazz Room nightclub in the heart of downtown, inside the Hotel Nikko at 222 Mason Street, at O’Farrell Street, for six performances from January 25 through January 29. They call this an “acoustic/electric themed” performance. Tickets go for $40-45 and there is a two drink minimum. A maximum of 170 guests are seated at cocktail tables on three tiers of seating, giving everyone an up-close view of the small stage.

And if you cannot make it to The City for this series, check out the Web site Under “Ship’s Tour Log,” you will find dates for performances in New York and Florida and other points east.

Best wishes,
