It is summer in the City and that means tourist season. This is what a British producer was telling tourists to expect in San Francisco in 1967. Someone should have explained that using the term “Frisco” is an insult.
My book, Truth and Love, Finding the Soul of the Sixties, explains that there was more to San Francisco in the 1960s than what people might have thought. Here is a street scene in the Haight with all kinds of people strolling down the street together. And yes, you will see some tourists too.
The musical group, the 5th Dimension, made a name for themselves in the summer of 1967 with this song. It won them five Grammy awards.
