The Vietnam War was in the daily news in 1967. The major media of the day were trying to give us some ideas about what this foreign country was all about.

Here is an ABC news report in 1967 about Saigon – now known as
Ho Chi Minh City.

More than 50 years later, filmmaker Ken Burns and his team are examining the war and this complicated time in American history. Here is a short preview of his 10-part documentary.

And here is more detail about how Ken Burns and Lynne Nowick spent 10 years creating this 10 part series.

This series begins to air on PBS stations, including our own KQED, this Sunday, September 17. On KQED it airs at 8 pm.

Best wishes,
